A special antique Japanese textile, likely once part of a futon cover. This piece features katazome (stencil print) throughout and hand sewn boro patchwork on the reverse. Boro is a Japanese form of textile preservation born out of necessity in which a fabric is patched over many years to extend its life. The layers of mending, sometimes spanning generations, create a living, soulful, one-of-a-kind piece. Display on the wall or drape over a bed.
